PRA maintains an active and aggressive legislative and advocacy program targeted to the provision of quality services, supports and outcomes for all individuals with disabilities. PRA believes in the adage that “All politics is local” and that targeted, relevant and needed change is initiated through a well-informed network of consumers, providers, professionals and other committed stakeholders.
PRA has carefully crafted the building blocks for a rapid response legislative and advocacy system: solid mission statement, appropriate goals and objectives, strategic plan and insightful and determined leadership. Also, PRA recognizes and embraces that the key elements to an effective system for change are: disciplined people, disciplined thought and disciplined action. To this end, PRA uses timely issuances, training seminars and institutes, networking and coalition building to achieve the greater good for consumers, providers and professional rehabilitation personnel.
Achieving change in Rehabilitation is an arduous process. To succeed, PRA must be strong, dedicated, persistent and willing to work hard. The organization and its individual members who have accurate, useful, well-packaged and hard-hitting information can exercise great power in the legislative, regulatory and policymaking arena.
