Update on Community HealthChoices (CHC) for dually eligible both Medicare and Medicaid participants.
Approximately 94 percent of Community HealthChoices (CHC) participants are dually eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. Better coordination between both entities is one of the primary goals of CHC.
Under CHC, Medicaid remains the payer of last resort for dual-eligibles, and providers who previously billed frequently to Medicaid must enroll in Medicaid per Federal guidance. The CHC Managed Care Organization (CHC-MCO) will encourage providers to enroll. CHC-MCOs will also offer companion managed care plans for dually eligible participants.
For more information on how CHC coordinates with Medicare coverage and what has and has not changed, see the attached fact sheet using the link above that was originally published in February 2018.
